Truly saddened by the death of Amy Winehouse. Loved her music and loved her style. She is the only woman I think could ever pull off that amount of tattoos and still look feminine. She kept many a bank manager angry at me with the devastation her Fred Perry collaborations caused on my balance. I remember meeting her in the Hawley Arms once and she was such a sweet, fragile little girl. Ravaged by superstardom. Saturday was a very sad day indeed :-(

Fashion will still be a focus, but other pop culture issues, as well as menswear, music and a few of my innermost wonderings will be commented on too; I have been stagnant and treading water in my life too long, letting myself get caught up in unimportant things and leaving the things that really matter (like progressing what was a burgeoning writing career) slip by the wayside. So, it's time to rediscover myself and who I really am, because if I'm honest, I got lost, many many months ago.

Thoughts on what you would like to read, as well as constructive criticism will be welcomed...(except on the grammar front, I know best on that, full stop.)

But for now a few things to keep the creative mind ticking,

* what do you think dogs would say most if they could talk?

'Why did you give me such a fucking stupid name?' is my best bet

* why were people (myself included) so obsessed with designer/celebrity/high st collaborations, even when they were shit?

* why did I ever move home from London?

* who invented false nails? cos they want shot

* why do you always want what you can't have?

* is independence a state of mind or a state of being? Can it be taught or is it inherent?

It's hard to say goodbye

So, the time has come for me to grow up and start acting like a big girl now that I'm a fully qualified teachers n all that. Happily this means I am buying myself a house :-) (pending all mortgage acceptances etc) less happily this means I need to find some money, fast. I have very little of this. I do however, have a considerable amount of equity in my ridiculously large collection of designer bags.

Enough waffle, basically this means I am selling off some of my handbags. At the moment definite ones to go are 4 Chanel's ( very :-( about this, but needs must) 1 Vivienne Westwood (provided I get a decent price, she was expensiiiiive) 1 Dior with matching purse, and a selection of vintage ones.

All are in great condition, as the pictures below show. If you want any more images please let me know.

Vivienne Westwood Bag

Amazing and rare Vivienne Westwood bag. Westwood only makes bags in a particular style for 1 season which makes each one extremely rare and desirable. This is a really unusual style bag in a deconstructed style, made in crocdile skin with the eponymous Westwood orb embossed on the bottom corner (seen in pictures) Love this bag and cost a fortune so will need right price before I let it go. I have used it quite a lot, but because of the nature of the skin it is very durable and hard wearing. As with the others, get in touch for more info or images. :-)

Vintage black lamskin Chanel bag with gold chain/leather strap. This bag can be worn across the body or on the shoulder because of the long strap, it also fits loads in because of the bucket shape....though I know this kind of style isn't for everyone, I love it. Very dark brown Chanel lambskin classic flap bag with silver chain strap. Used once. I guess a girl can have too many bags....

For those that don't know Chanel leather bags come in two different types of leather - caviar (which is normally calfskin leather) and lambskin. Caviar leather is called that because the effect of the leather is quite 'rough', I can't think of any better way to describe it, and images show better. The purple and black Chanel's are caviar leather, the dark brown and vintage black are lambskin. Personally I don't have a preference, and have a pretty much even mix of both, though caviar is a more hard wearing leather, lambskin, while luxuriously soft, does scratch quite easily, whereas caviar does not.

Wedding Blues

I have no less than 3 best friends and 1 cousin set to get married before May 2010. I love a good wedding as much as the next person, the pastel twinset-clad elderly relatives, the dabbing of eyes as vows are exchanged, the champagne and the dancing into the early house, it's all fabulous. But never before have I been so stressed about finding an outfit. I have actually only attended one wedding before when I wasn't trussed up in a bridesmaid dress, so I am fairly unpractised in wedding outfitage. I think the fact that my daily uniform consists of ankle boots, oversized plaid shirts, teeny shorts and an inordinate amount of studs may be a reason why I'm finding it so hard to choose an outfit.

I am not a girly girl, everytime I wear a pretty dress I am compelled to pair it with clumpy boots and lots of heavy jewellry. I am also a very particular dresser, if I do not feel 'me' in an outfit, I can't leave the house. I haven't felt 'me' in any of the outfits I've tried for said wedding.

I did purchase a beautiful sequinned boyfriend blazer from Warehouse,

that I had considered pairing with a ballerina type skirt

a simple vest and some Melanie appropriate heavy black ankle boots.....but I'm unsure. I like this outfit, without loving it, and I want an outit I LOVE.

I have tried to find a tailored short suit - to no avail. Chloe's outfit here would be my ideal wedding outfit, I adore this look, the nude colour, the soft scalloping and delicate silk are all wedding appropriate, yet the slightly risque length of the shorts would keep it me. But alas, I am not in Sevignys position to be able to afford such designer outfits, and the high street scavenge for similar has proved fruitless. BOOOO

At present I am leaning towards two options a grey All Saints dress, or simply going in my PJ's. I love the All Saints dress, but I've worn it lots before, and me being me, I feel like I NEED something new.

So in short, fellow bloggers and readers of fashionfairysdaydreams, I am begging for help and advice. I only have 2 weeks!!

So, the lack of posts continue. Main reason for this is I have some people reading this that I don't want reading it. It makes me feel compromised in terms of creativity. I can't write about whatever takes my fancy. and that was exactly what I loved so much about this blog. I can't decide whether to change blog names, though I'm hesitant about doing this because it would mean losing all of the work that has gone into this blog so far (which is, despite what you may think a lot)

Any advice on this subject would be much appreciated. Please email me!

Bordelle-oh-oh- OHHH!

I hate Lady GaGa. I would go so far as to say I LOATHE her. From her ridiculous name, to her even more ridiculous style, she does not have one redeeming feature. Poker face? Say no more. So an email titled "GaGa inspired lingerie" did little to whet my fashion appetite. I was very pleasantly surprised to find not some cheap, nylon granny pants intended to be worn as some form of fashion statement, but a link to Bordelle lingerie. The London based lingerie designer was founded by Alex Popa an investment banker who apparently realised after a few years number punching, her real passion lay in, well exactly that - passion.

The idea of Bordelle lingerie is handmade couture underwear that strive to blur the lines between garment classification "giving rise to the terminology Bodywear" This sounds like total garbage spurted directly from the PR's mouth, but when it looks this good, I really couldn't give one. These bondage inspired lycra and leather multi-strapped pieces are underwear so sexy, so striking, so damned beautiful, it would be a crime to not wear it as outerwear.

The website is pretty sparse on info, but it does have some AMAZING photo's. http://www.bordelle.co.uk/, and there are a limited number of pieces available to buy online at Peacock&Strutt. But be warned, these prices aren't for the faint of heart.

Spring/Summer Mood Board

It has been uncharacteristically warm up North the last few days. We rarely have nice weather, but that doesn't stop the majority of girls wearing FAR too little attire to be deemed appropriate on nights out (believe me, I wouldn't wish viewing that much cellulite on my worst enemy), but the last few days of sunshine and *slight* warmth gave anyone and everone the excuse to don the skimpiest of hotpants and bikini tops to sun their deathly pale skin. Anway, enough of my senseless rambling about pet hates...the sun showing his premature little orange head told me I need to think about what style I want to be channeling this summer. What better way to do this than spending hours browsing catwalking.com and choosing my face pieces to create an interactive mood board I can refer back to for outfit inspiration whenever I like? Perfect!

Florals, as always will no doubt feature heavily in my Summer wardrobe, but I am also very enamoured with the new nude palette, the cut-out/body cage effect dresses in fit to touch fabrics, and sheer. Lots and lots of sheer. All with heavy ankle studded ankle boots. hhhmmm, I best get to the gym with all this bodycon going on!

Only a tiny selection of the things that are and will be inspiring me this summer, but we'd be here forever if I put everything on!

MUST put a little bit of Viv in too though, I love the bondage effect of these sandals, especially when paired with the sludgy coloured socks <3

I can't believe I was so slow on the uptake, my Aunt is going to NY in a few weeks, why did it take my mum pointing out to me that she ca bring things back for me?? Cue mass internet browsing, im compiling a list of American Apparel (the prices and shipping times on our UK wesite is RIDICULOUS) lots and lots of MAC make-up and most importantly - these little diamonds from Bakers shoes (I curse this website every single day for not shipping internationally)

I loved the Gucci's when they first came out, but of course all I could do was dream. These babies are exactly the same and a total bargain at $170, I just hope she can find them!

This is probably going to be an extremely boring post for everone else, but I've decided that I have so many outfit ideas floating around my head, along with poetic devices, dramatic irony, pathetic fallacy and reminding myself to buy some superheo themes DVD's, I simply had to get them down somewhere in a coherent order so I could remember everything I want.

And yes, it is AGES since I've posted. Since I last blogged I have, met some of my tutor group kids' parents, ate too many Nando's for one person, partied with the Killers and discovered I have an obsession with combat boots.

I am unashamedly in love and lust and filled with desire for these Emma Cook for Topshop boots, so much so that I am currently checking ts.com roughly 27 times per day in the naive hope I wil be able to get a pair. If anyone has, or knows of someone who has a pink pair and wants to let me go TELL ME!!!

I already mentioned a couple of posts ago that I'm loving the Peaches for made.uk.com jewellry range, especially the unicorn (BOOOOOO sold out) But Peaches also has a capsule collection she designed for PPQ available on www.oli.co.uk. Now I must stress that I'm not Peaches Geldof's greatest fan, but this collection of gothic style lace dresses with silk and velvet frill details is GORGEOUS. My number 1? The epiphany polo neck top

Recieved in the post today the Topshop 'Rodarte' sweater I had previously raved about when I saw it in their lookbook. Disappointed. :-( not fluffy enough. Looks cheap. Will return it at the weekend. Though I did have a very successful haul at H&M this week, lots of studded bodycon numbers and mesh longsleeved top, can't wait to recieve my order from studsandspikes.com and DIY these a bit more (pics will have to be uploaded later, can't find any online)

A special mention must go to my Topshop lattice detail dress, ordered it online without expecting much, i LOVE it. Very otm with the bodycon styling and cutout detailing below the breasts, I can see myself wearing this a LOT

A WOW to Mr Wang

My love and desire to own my very own Alexander Wang piece is no secret, the man can do no wrong in my eyes. In fact it was his s/s 09 look here that had me lusting BIG time after a fuschia/tangerine colour palette for my new season wardrobe....the sexy as fuck fierce ankle boots were the icing on the cake I so desperately want to devour

But when I found out Wang was collaborating with Brooklyn jewellry designer Paris Kain on a small 4 piece range of earrings and cuff's I was BEYOND excited. Feb 14th saw it's release, but I've yet to find them anywhere online :-S anyone know where I can get my hands on them? The range is expected to be priced from $350 - $975, but I know I'd get so much wear out of these it would be money well spent (well I'm convincing myself that way anyway - come on jump on the self-justification bandwagon folks!)

I have serious bracelet lust for this cuff, it would go PERFECTLY with my Vivienne Westwood armour ring which I'm never without...

But these ear cuff's are my absolute favourite. So unconventional, yet so completely wearable, they are iconic Wang. On mentioning the designs Wang commented ""We're working with ways of wearing earrings that aren't typical." He says: "How they work on your body, how they hang. We want to push the meaning of embellishment and how people interpret jewellery."

Kain added "It's not a status symbol, it's something for yourself" You're not wrong there Mr Kain, it most definitely will be something for myself....if I manage to get my hands on it!!

Unicorn envy

My gorgeous friend Nikki's recent post on her blog http://ohfabulous.co.uk/ made me remember how much I loved my Alexa Chung for Made's skull necklace. It took me SO long to get my hands on it, but I wore it every single day. As with everything that fashion fairy adores, she inevitably loses it. When I realised, I was DEVASTATED.

Nikks recent purchase of the necklace made me wonder, should I invest in another one? It is ethical after all, so therefore doesn't really count as a selfish purchase does it? When I went to http://www.made.uk.com/index.php I found Peaches Geldof had also designed a range for them. Now I'm normally not Miss Geldof's biggest fan but I had a browse anyway and I stumbled upon this DIVINE Unicorn necklace.....I am in LOVE with it. Even more in love with this than I was with the Alexa skull. But it seems to be out of stock. DAMNIT :-(

The Happy Monday

So I have had a rubbish weekend. Got my brand new Vivienne Westwood purse stolen on Friday night, with ALL of my bank cards in. It was the first time I'd taken it out. Look at how stunning it was...

I then had to spend the rest of the weekend at the family house Old Wood, clearing out my Great Aunt's possessions, she was the last of the family to remain there, she died in January and we now need to sell the house. I did inherit some beautiful pieces through this which I will post later, including the most delicious emerald ring you've ever seen, but it was desperately sad and there were lots of tears and fraught emotions.

So, after having a few days away from the blogging world, imagine how cheered up I was when I logged on after a particularly difficult Year 8 lesson to find Kat of http://pencilfashion.blogspot.com/ had uploaded the gorgeous drawing she had promised me a little while ago. I am in LOVE with it!! and will post it somewhere on the blog permanently, but I just had to mention it here because I want to say a HUGE thank you to her. As someone who can not draw to save her life, I am forever in awe of people that can, and I am so grateful that she has taken the time to do this for me, worth 10 Vivienne Westwood purses and completely cheered me up too! xx

I am in the first flush of love with LOVE magazine. This month saw the launch of Katie Grand's latest business venture (she of POP magazine fame), LOVE magazine is a bi-annual self annointed "compendium of inspiration" for everyone from illustrators, designers, writers, models and fashion lovers. The first issue "Icons of our Generation" features the likes of Alber Elbaz, Kate Moss, Sofia Coppola and even glamour model Vikki Blows.

I picked up my copy in my favourite place in the world (Borders) at the weekend, I love everything about it. I love the hefty thickness of it, I love the soft minty hued cover, I love the shamelessly naked Beth Ditto, I love that Grand has progressed but not deviated from the fantastically successful thing she had going on as editor in chief at POP.

The fabulous cover....I defy you not to be tempted by it

Canal Street News in London have devoted their whole window display to LOVE...

..as have high end French fashion boutique Colette...

The highlights? "107 Charing Cross Road" and "Between the shows" articles. Lara Stone? fucking beautiful

Sheer Sex-up

I am absolutely DESPERATE for this sheer mesh dress from American Apparel. I can envisage layering it under a multitude of things to get the punky, unkempt sweet English rose look I'm going to channel this summer. I'm thinking this under strapless floral print dresses with clumpy boots preferably heavily laden with studs.

Seemed like a done deal, except I can't find the bloody thing ANYWHERE in the American Apparel realm...not in any of the stores, not on the U.K website, not even on the U.S website. Am I missing something here? Am I just being an idiot and it's staring me in the face? Has it sold out, or has it not even been released yet? Someone help me!!

I have never really paid particular attention to Nicole Richie (best friends with Paris and a Balenciaga motorcycle bag in EVERY colour...I can't relate) but after seeing her in this weeks Grazia, I have developed a full on girl crush.

On closer inspection I realised this divine headband is by House of Harlow, Nicole Richie's own jewellry line, which includes fabulous gold and leather detailed rings, bracelets and necklaces with aztec and african influences. I've yet to find the headband available online so if anyone knows where to buy it can you PLEASE let me know??

For those that know me, or don't know me but stalked my facebook profile before it became private, my photographs will tell you 1 thing about me. I am OBSESSED with headbands. I have never been particularly good at doing my hair. Make-up I can just about get away with, mainly because smudged smoky eyes are my trademark going out look (a little secret - these are my trademark because they are the only way I can apply make up without looking distinctly clown like) But hair? never really got the hang of that one to be honest. Hats were my saving grace, alternating between a beanie, a straw hat or a bowler depending on the social occasion. And then came the over the hair headband. A miraculous discovery that it didn' particularly matter that my hair looked slightly messy, in fact IT HELPED if it looked slightly messy with these little babies crowning me.

A range of fantastic jewelled, studded and feathered headbands designed by Molly Rhymer, an "ordinary Californian girl who worked for Vena Cava before launching her own line." I have been a terrible blogger lately, I apologise profusely. A combination of being laid up in bed with flu for the majority of last week and the pressing issue of GCSE coursework I need to get from kids has made it very difficult to motivate myself to actually post. I'm actually at work, hence should be doing work not fashion blogging so this is just a quickie.....

No sooner had I posted one of my fave streetstyle candid pics of the girl in the iconic Viv squiggle print dress, that I found out the print has been re-released as part of the S/S 09 Anglomania collection. I adored the "elephant" tshirt dress when I saw it online, and ventured into my local Westwood store at the weekend to try it on in red with navy squiggles. And I have to be honest, I was somewhat underwhelmed....

perhaps it was the fact that I had very little make-up on and was still feeling groggy with flu. But I didn't feel the same flush of love I felt everytime I've tried my other Westwood pieces on.

Saying that, looking at Urban Outfitters newest Anglomania additions to the website are making me question my judgement. Maybe it's second time lucky?

Topshop how I heart thee..

Every season I tell myself I will not be lured in my Topshop's lookbook and extensive advertising campaign...and every season I fail miserably. But I feel, this season I am justified in my lust. Magpies are those birds that are drawn towards shiny, sparkly things...now I'm not into bling type jewellry, chunky masculine cuffs and divine cocktail rings are more Fashion Fairy's style, but put me in front of a floral print, any floral print and I develop aforementioned Magpie tendencies. I don't think my lust for some of these items is at all my fault, topshop is entirely to blame. It's like they tapped into the big style loves part of my brain and made things specifically with this in mind. studs, bleached denim, fluoro floral prints and elaborate head pieces.......please excuse me, I have just died and gone to fashion heaven!

What's not to love about this? The flowerbomb dress, the coy stance and the GORGEOUS fascinator....I need it all.

These are UP THERE on my want's list too....I love studs...almost as much as I love flowers. pair these babies with some form of floral top half and you've got my dream outfit.

And the shoes...oh MY.

But saving my fave item til last.....this arrow print body. I've no idea how I would incorporate this into my wardrobe and when it would be appropriate to wear. (i'm envisaging black sequins, nude lace tights and a lot of fucking attitude.) And I'm almost certain it will be massively overpriced. But i WANT!

a few favourites from my street style folder, and why i love them so...

because I've lusted after this Viv squiggle print for an eternity, and the closest I'm ever going to get to it is my measly squiggle print tights for Viv and Wolford.

Because however un PC it is of me, I love the elegance a fur coat instantly gives any outfit. And because she's wearing my lust colours of the season, tangerine and fuschia.

Because I'd give anything to look this good in my white tights.

Because I love the origami element of the dress.

Because she just looks so damned adorable. And I am unashamedly OBSESSED with anything and everything oyster coloured.

Because I wish I was this fucking cool.

Because I am in LOVE with every part of this outfit. I love the flowers in the hair, I love the washed out tee, I love the corally peach skirt, I love the slubby cardigan, I love the bashful smile and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the shoes and socks combo. I have outfit lust, big time.

I sincerely promise a better attempt at posting will be done later. Most likely when I am in bed in my pj's nursing my hangover and pretending its not the overindulgence that made me ill, its that im run down, honestly! xx

Since becoming a full time teacher nights have formed a certain pattern for me. Bring lots of work home to do, get home, spend too much time browsing my favourite fashion sites, do no work, feel guilty, go to sleep...and so it continues. Tonight is no different, actually it IS different, I promise after this post I will tackle the quotes collector for my GCSE class. Really. But Balmain is far more important. An old old fashion house fallen into the depths of anonymity until the arrival of Christophe Decarnin less than two years ago. Since said arrival Balmain has become the buzz word on everyone's lips, and his S/S 09 collection has not disappointed. Decarnin's clever mix of rock chick studs, acid bleach torn denim and disco queen body con emerald and fuschia mini's all paired with teetering bling bling stiletto's, makes for an irresistible collection. This one is a real middle finger to all those economic scare-mongers out there.

A selection of my faves from S/S 09. For me, it is ALL about the 80's accentuated shoulders...and those DIVINE shoes.

Swishing. Definitely the best thing to come out of the recession. This swapping phenomenon has swept the nation since appearing on the cult BBC2 programme "Twiggy's Frock Exchange." What do you do? I hear you ask. Simply round up all of your unwanted clothes, shoes, accessories and take them to a Swishing Event, where you get to swap them for things you want! Sounds too good to be true doesn't it? It isn't. Well at least I hope it isn't. I am a Swish vigrin, and will be popping my Swishing cherry at the Daisy Green Magazine's first swishing party next Thursday in the fabulously decadent As You Like It bar.

The entry price is only £5 with a free glass of wine and nibbles, even if I come away empty handed I will feel whole lot better about giving my unwanted pieces to someone that can really appreciate them. With local company Magpie Swop there with a selection of items to swap, barter or buy, a fabulous array of vintage ranging from the 20's - 80's from Bowler Hat vintage and Karina Hesketh's hand-made bags I think the likelihood of me coming away with nothing is very, very slim!! Right, I'm off to decide what I can prise out of my over-stuffed wardrobe to send off to a more loving home.

As the founder of 'sustainability' PR company Futerra said "Now you can save the world without having to wear shit clothes." I couldn't have put it better myself!

I am LOVING Marc Jacobs "2009 Tribute Collection" for Louis Vuitton which pays homage to the late, great Stephen Sprouse. As most fashion fans know Marc has long admired Sprouse, collaborating with him initially in 2001 for the grafitti print bags which were an immediate cult collectors item (remember Victoria Beckham carrying a fake one? If she couldn't get hold of one what chance do he rest of us have?!)

When Sprouse died in 2004, Marc issued a leopard print scarf that the pair had designed together but which had never been issued. Coming up to 5 years later and this scarf still sells for more than twice retail price on ebay and is a much obsessed over, lusted after item. I have one of the LV scarves in lime/grey colour combo and I adore it. The latest collection uses Sprouses iconic grafitti print in up to the minute neon hues. Jacobs has splashed the print across everything from beach towels, bracelets, leggings and stilettos, to the Speedy and Keepall bags.

My most wanted item? The monogram and rose print silk scarf. <3>

This fab little book was a gift given to me by my great friend Laura to add to my vast collection of fashion books. 'This little Piggy went to Prada: Nursery Rhymes for the Blahnik Brigade' is a fun read guaranteed to brighten the day of many a fashionista. The book contains modern versions of our traditional, well loved nursery rhymes, all with a fashion theme with gorgeous watercolour prints to accompany them. Here's a few of my favourites....

At first glance, an American Apparel store wouldn’t look out of place nestled in a seedy SoHo side street. The neon strip lit sign, provocatively posed mannequins and body con spandex clothes scream sex, but America’s latest export has become a surprise underground hit with the uber cool kids of today. Director Dov Charney opened the first store in just 2003 in L.A, and now boasts an empire of 143 stores in 11 countries; with the announcement of the company going public at the end of 2007, this store count is set to grow 5 fold.

In the hipsters’ playground, where microtrends are devoured faster than Class A’s the staying power of American Apparel lies in it’s surprisingly simple approach to attire. “We offer the basics. That’s what people love. The perfect cut white vest, or the go with everything skinny cords. There’s something for everyone in here.” explains Jamie, a sales assistant and long time champion of the American Apparel brand. And he’s right. Alongside the metallic skin tight numbers the club kids love lie a very wearable selection of t-shirts and casual wear, in every shade imaginable. But there’s more to American Apparel than playful jerseys in dolly mixture hues at affordable prices. Behind the tongue in cheek geek-chic sunglasses and disco biscuit lame hotpants is a man with a message. Charney is the Mother Theresa of retail; the pioneer for fair treatment of employees, American Apparel is as famed for its impeccable working conditions as it’s gold leggings and sexually provocative adverts. Employees have meals and health insurance subsidised, benefit from performance related pay (the average of which is more than double California’s minimum wage of $6) and are entitled to free English lessons. This continues behind the scenes, with every single garment American Apparel sells being produced in a factory in down-town L.A, Charney’s steadfast refusal to outsource clothing to overseas sweatshops is as much to do with his principles as his need to supervise quality control and keep up to date with emerging trends. Among a sea of bargain basement stores competing to produce fast fashion for pennies, this ethical approach is refreshing.

The key to the brands success is Charney’s succinct identification of what the young, trendy “world metropolitan culture”, as he defines them, really want. In the current climate of society, where ethics are as important as labels in the fashion world and a conscience has finally emerged, American Apparel ticks all the boxes. The success of American Apparel is undisputed; the unique combination of unbranded and affordable basics and one which is ethically sound, giving a guilt free, trend heavy shopping trip has afforded the company a gross profit margin of 80%, compared to the average 60% from other retailers. However, it remains to be seen whether the companies switch to plc will affect these morals. How long can this rapidly expanding and increasingly profitable business resist the urge to compromise its integrity in the name of further success? Charney must decide whether it is his morals or his position as retail maverick that is most important.

I'm sure there was outrage among the 'prescriptivists' of the fashion set when it was announced Cheryl Cole was to be Vogue's cover star for Feb 2009. Shulman has long been bashed for her 'controversial' cover choices, blasted for turning the fashion bible of the elite into a people pleaser. Though in this day and age it really is all about circulation, and with Vogue remaining steadily around the 220,000 mark despite the current economic climate; who can argue with that?

"I like to look back and think we had the people of the moment on the cover,” says Alexandra Shulman. And of the moment 'Our Cheryl' really is. Of course, I'm always going to have an extra soft spot for my fellow geordie, but my soft spot grew to girl-crush to full blown LOVE as the X Factor progressed. Along with the rest of the nation it seems. We just can't get enough of this 5ft 3 tiny little bundle of loveliness with her deliciously glossy beehive, her genuine warm smile and those cheekbones you could open the post with.

Although Cheryl's style is a little too polished for my personal taste, I have found myself lusting after her adorable Mulberry duffel coat; along with the leopard print Louis Vuitton wooden bangles she wears in the Vogue editorial.

Of course, she looks amazing in the magazine...and the interview itself? Yes I'm biased, yes, I think it's fantastic!

I was super - excited when I heard about the collaboration between controversy-courting American designer Jeremy Scott and sportswear giants Adidas. Although I don't own any of Scott's clothing, I have always admired it from afar, giving my great friend, Lisa envious glances when she so nonchalantly pulled off his outrageous designs. Where she looked sexy, unkempt and cool, I would look like I was on my way to some form of clowns convention.

The first of Adidas x Scott's multi season collection arrives in stores February 1st 2009, and I for one can't wait. I ADORE the leopard hoodie and sequin joggers, and although I could never incorporate them into my wardrobe, those angel wing metallic high tops are just fantastic. Prices range from £30 - £300, this is loungewear I can relate to.

Only a mere 2 posts ago I was full of excitement and anticipation for the arrival of the beautiful Marc Jacobs shoes I had managed to get for £99 reduced from £350....when I opened my emails this morning to find a VERY unwelcome message.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience but unfortunately the shoes you ordered from us have actually sold out now. The stock levels on our website have not been updating quickly enough and unfortunately this meant the shoes were still available to buy online when they had already sold in the shop

Devastation is not strong enough a word. I don't think I had ever looked at an email with such contempt before. I ADORED those shoes, I had lusted after them at full price, and when I managed to nab them at such a steal I had done the only thing a girl does when she has just added something so fantastic to her wardrobe....plan outfits to pair with said new addition.

I feel the only thing that can cheer me up is a purchase of something equally or not more beautiful than my shoes.

Today I am lusting after a vintage child's navy duffel coat complete with tan toggles.....I plan to channel Paddington bear for the beginning of 2009.

A little note relating to Christmas, the boy did extremely well on the gifts front. Photo's will follow, but the haul included fantastic, very fashion fairy appropriate metal studded bracelet, chandelier earrings, and the most delectable ankle boots my eyes ever did see. And trust me, fashion fairy's eyes have seen a LOT of ankle boots.

These Topshop babies are the perfect mix of rock n roll chic and sex kitten. Black, peep toed, stiletto heel with a lace up front and numerous gold eyelet details. I just can not wait to pair these bad boys with my studded nude leather pencil skirt and the chunky charcoal cardigan I purchased the boy as part of his festive haul. (I didn't buy it with an ulterior wearing myself motive, honest...) For a boy that protested he wasn't 'that into fashion' only 8 mere months ago, he is proving to pleasantly surprise me, every step of the way. I always did relish a challenge.

oooooooh, I'm so excited I just had to post. Fashion Fairy has been lusting after these ADORABLE Marc Jacobs lattice pumps for months. Imagine my delight when I foung them reduced from £350 to £99(credit crunch, no-one spending thank you very much!!) on my nightly net browse. I just HAD to have them, so any day now, these beauties will be winging their way to my front door. I plan to wear them this weekend, with high waisted skater style skirts and vintage floral smock dresses. For someone that wasn't doing the sales, I'm giving myself a pat on the back for this fantastic find!

Would Like To Have...

Sometimes an item comes along that is so perfect, so suitable, so utterly you that you wonder what you ever did before it came into your life. For me, that was my Tarina Tarantino 'I love you' ring. It combined chunkiness with femininity so succinctly, I fell in love at first glance. Ours was a passionate love affair (the ring was aptly named, I suppose) from the moment she first arrived to me in a sweet organza pink bag we were joined at the hip (or finger).

When I awoke one morning to find myself with a blinding headache, an extremely delicate stomach and a ringless finger, I was devastated. I don't know what hurt more, the dry retching everytime I lifted my head from the pillow; or the hollow feeling of loss.

I have since replaced the ring, but the sentimental value of course, cannot be replaced. As you know I have an obsession with oversized rings, and with alcohol. Incidentally the two do not mix well. I have lost many many rings before, including a Vivienne Westwood armour ring and two Chanel costume rings. Terribly clumsy, and each time I lose one, I feel I lose a little of myself. I really should be more careful, there won't be much of me left at this rate.

Today I am lusting after the accompanying Tarina Tarantino 'I Hate You' ring. Sums up my general attitude to most things a little more accurately than the 'I Love You' version I feel.

This year I will mostly be channelling.....

Seasons greetings, my dear fashion lovers. I hope you have all had a joyous break and have over-indulged in everything you possibly could over the festive period. After feeling more than a little squashy around the middle of late, I have decided to embark on my annual "diet" (for 'diet' read eating exactly the same crap as usual just in slightly diminished portions, with an extra large siding of guilt, for my trouble). And like any girl, when 'dieting' I feel I am depriving myself of one pleasure so much, I simply must relish in another, one that preferably does not involve leg circumference increasing.

For Fashion Fairy, the only other pleasure, aside from alcohol, nando's and a good DVD boxset is fashion. Fashion, fashion, fashion. Glorious clothes, sparkling jewels, towering heels and butter soft handbags. Christmas 2008 was an impressive hoard, even by my standards. Piles of the above, just waiting to be adorned, pulled on, tottered around in. In particular a divine pair of platforms, easily mistaken for the infamous YSL trib too's, some oil slick leather skinnies and an array of huge cocktail rings in every imaginable hue.

Now, I just require an invite somewhere, and some money to fund it, and I'll be good to go.....

My posts seem to be fairly methodological in their apology littered beginnings....but I can assure you, they are truly from the heart. Because this, my little fashion blog is where my heart lies. The children of Hylton Red House may have my soul, but fashion will always possess my heart. Something the boy, feels a fair of amount of contempt about. But what can I say? The choice between money spent on a weekend away with him, or a new Chanel purchase? Coco wins. Everytime.

My motto? Men may come and go. Handbags will stay faithful forever. And this, is my justification for the purchase of a new one, from the pre-fall collection. DIVINE. there need be no other justification in my book (regulars readers of fashion fairies musings will be familiar with her fantastic ability to justify ANY purchase)

If I could marry a handbag, I would devote my life to this!

Suicidal tendencies...

I am feeling extremely sad today, I'm in a dark, dark place. There is no particular reason for this, other than over indulgence of the social lubricant also known as alcohol last night.......

On days like this I indulge in the one thing guaranteed to bring a smile to my perpetually scowling face, fashion talk. I have been feeling at a slight fashion stalemate of late. I usually have an idea of the staples I will be working each season as it approaches, and autumn/winter is, I must admit my favourite time of year. Except this year everything is so....beige. It says something about the state of the high street when a seasoned shopper such as myself can leave the Brit girls mecca - Topshop Oxford Circus without a purchase. Racks and rails filled with clothes, all so non-descript only a fortnight later I can't remember a single item, aside from the garish sequin numbers....sadly those images will not fade from my mind. In these times of recession the high street should be the salvation of the nation. A bright beacon on an otherwise gloomy landscape. Evidently the buyers do not agree, stocking our stores with moss green knitwear, shapeless flannel dresses and a thousand varieties of the most loved/detested Ugg.

Having attempted to cheer myself up with fashion talk all of this discussion about the lack of inspiration coming from the high street at present has served only to plummet my spirits further. I will end with a wish list for today. And I will also apologise for the haphazard organisation of todays entry, normal pace will be resumed asap.

A little update...

I must apologise for my lack of consistency in posting on this blog...a lot has been hapenning in the world of Fashion Fairy.

Since I last posted I have been to New York, witnessed a beautiful beautiful wedding that brought a tear and aspirational thought to even my love-cynical mind. I have begun a new job working as an English teacher, and I have paid a flying visit to my most adored ex-home of London.

The job is probably what provokes most thought....from a fashion writer to an English teacher in an extremely deprived area in Sunderland. QUE?? I hear you ask. Despite my love for fashion, and my even greater love for writing about it, I have yet to stumble upon the miracle of someone giving me the opportunity to do this for a living. So for now, Miss Simblet, teacher of English and giver of extremely disdainful looks is my identity.

Which leads to my next point of thought....having spent a lifetime perfecting my unique, scruffy chic street style, I am now forced to dress in professional manner five days out of seven. A prickly subject, to put things politely. How does one dress in a way that is appropriate to teach the youth of today in, whilst still keeping a sense of personal identity?
* For someone who's trademarks are acres of leg, ankle boots, slubby oversized knits, messy hair and lashings of eyeliner this has proved difficult....I shall be regularly updating new work outfits, any opinions will be very welcome!

I have a confession to make. As a bona fide fashionista I should be extremely over the celebrity/designer and high street collaborations...but I am lusting with a capital LUST over the Kate Moss panther dress. This dress has punctuated my mind, seeping into my day and night dreams, it is the stuff miracles are made of and every time I remember I was too slow at getting my ass onto the internet that I missed out on this little gem of a party dress I die a little inside.

on that note of depression I will depart, to dream about my dress and to find a new, innovative way to put some personal touches into my work uniform.

Next post will, I solemnly promise be more prompt than this one. I will be musing on the recession. How much effect is it having on the die hard shoppers of our country? and how are the making the pennies stretch to pounds and the pounds stretch that bit further.... xxxx

Right, I'm new to this blogging malarkey so you'll have to bear with me. I love fashion and I love writing, so short of securing employment with a fashion magazine (believe me, I've tried!) this is my only creative outlet at the moment. Don't expect anything heavy, I'll stick to only the lightest, airiest fashion news cupcakes, with a dollop of beauty and personal style commentary and perhaps the odd sprinkling on love and life.
